Job description
We are looking for Education officers that can strengthen our practical team, which is involved in teaching Bachelor’s and Master’s students in the Pharmacy program. Practical sessions/courses form a substantial part of the Pharmacy program. They help students to reinforce theoretical knowledge and develop skills, and thus academically shape future pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists. The education officer will provide intensive support to large groups of students during their practical work. Together with the lecturer(s) involved, the education officer will explain techniques, help students perform experiments, and give feedback on lab preparation, lab performance and report writing skills.
The education officer will have the following tasks:
- Preparation of practicals: prepare stock solutions, the labs and chemicals.
- Supervise and instruct large group of students with the help of teaching assistants.
- Give grade advice for the labwork and reports of students.
- Manage and maintain the practical rooms, equipment and stock.
- Clean and maintenance of equipment.
- Aid in the development of a skills lab to be used in bachelor research projects.

This position will be embedded in FSE’s fse, which offers 14 Bachelor degree programmes and 26 Master degree programmes to approximately 7100. In particular, you will become part of the expertise lab-group chemistry (X-lab chemistry). This group currently consist of 1 lecturers and 7 supporting staff.
Requirements
We encourage you to apply if you:
- Have an HBO Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry or related disciplines, with hands-on experience in analytical chemistry (titration, HPLC, UV-vis spectrophotometry).
- Have good knowledge of written and spoken English and Dutch.
- Have good communication and organization skills.
- Are an enthusiastic team player with a proactive and flexible attitude.
- Are experienced in teaching.
- Are able to work well in an international, culturally diverse, environment.
Conditions of employment
Contract length: 12 months.
We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- A salary with a minimum of € 3,382 up to a maximum of € 4,484 gross per month (salary scale 8) for a full-time position with the UFO-profile Education Officer 3.
- A holiday holiday allowance and end-of-year bonus of respectively 8% and 8.3% of your yearly salary.
- A minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment.
- Training opportunities to further develop skills and capabilities.
- An appointment for one year.
