Job description
The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, offers two postdoctoral fellowships funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO Spinoza Prize), under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Kleingeld.
The postdocs will join a research group working on Kant and Kantian moral theory. We are looking for researchers with a strong background and research interest in Kant’s ethics and/or his political philosophy and/or Kantian ethics. The postdocs will do their own research, collaborate in the research group, and help organize academic events for the project.

Requirements
- PhD prior to appointment.
- Strong research profile and publication record appropriate to career stage, in relevant research areas of Kant scholarship (esp. Kant’s ethics and/or political theory) or Kantian ethics.
- Ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
- Excellent command of English; working knowledge of German is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Dutch is not required for postdocs. The University of Groningen is a bilingual university (Dutch and English).
Conditions of employment
Contract length: 36 months.
We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- A Postdoc salary range between € 3.378 and € 5.331 gross per month (salary scale 10), depending on qualifications and work experience, for a full-time position.
- An 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year allowance and participation in a pension scheme for employees. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
- A temporary position for three years.
Starting date: 1 September 2025
