University of Groningen

Since its foundation in 1614, the University of Groningen has enjoyed an international reputation as a dynamic and innovative centre of higher education offering high-quality teaching and research. Balanced study and career paths in a wide variety of disciplines encourage our 36,000 students and researchers to develop their own individual talents. We belong to the best research universities in Europe and join forces with prestigious partner universities and networks; we are truly an international place of knowledge.

Our Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences is a center of knowledge focusing on individuals and society. We study issues relating to human behaviour, and the relationships between people and society as a whole. This includes the study of how people function under normal circumstances, but also of the problems encountered by individuals or groups, and how to resolve or prevent these. Our Faculty employs about 650 employees.

The Department of Psychology is part of our faculty and we offer bachelor’s and master’s programs in both Dutch and English to over 3,000 students. Our department's student population is very international; more than half of our students are non-Dutch and come from countries all over the world. We teach in Dutch as well as in English.
The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a permanent position in Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology. Faculty members are expected to spend their time on teaching and on research. The search is targeted at the assistant professor level but exceptional candidates with more experience are also encouraged to apply. The candidate will work in the Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology group. This group contributes to the Bachelor of Psychology, Master programmes Klinische Neuropsychologie and Clinical Neuropsychology, and the Research Master programme of the Behavioural and Social Sciences. In addition, the group contributes to the post-academic clinical psychology programmes (GZ). Current research focuses on cognitive impairments in neurological and psychiatric disorders, such as ADHD, psychosis and visuoperceptual disorders. Our group studies cognitive mechanisms challenging participation and develops tests and interventions aiming to improve functioning in daily life and enhance effective participation in society. A central objective is bridging the gap between academia and clinical practice. Another part of the research focuses on traffic psychology, with a special interest in maintaining or regaining mobility for people with cognitive or other impairments. The Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology Group has numerous international research collaborations with universities and national health care institutions, such as UMCG Groningen, Lentis, GGZ Drenthe, Royal Dutch Visio and GGZ Friesland.
