The University College Groningen (UCG) was founded in 2014 as a new faculty of the University of Groningen. The Liberal Arts and Sciences degree programme offers a broad academic education and interdisciplinary integration, centred around the three research themes of the RUG: Energy, Healthy Ageing and Sustainable Society. The UCG community is internationally oriented, with staff and students from across the globe. In the current academic year of UCG, 85 first-year students are enrolled in the programme and for next academic year UCG’s class of 2020 is projected to start with 120 students. In the summer of 2017, the first cohort of students will graduate. At the end of 2018, the Liberal and Arts and Sciences programme will be evaluated for reaccreditation. For the coordination and the support of the evaluation and reaccreditation process, UCG is looking for a quality assurance officer.

Job description
As quality assurance officer you will be responsible for the coordination and support of the entire evaluation and reaccreditation process of the bachelor programme, including the further development of the quality assurance system. The QA officer collaborates with different participants and stakeholders in the educational environment, such as the faculty board, programme director, teachers, students, support staff, board of examiners, education committee and board of education. Part of the job consists of collecting relevant documentation of quality indicators of the programme, resulting in the critical reflection on the Liberal Arts and Sciences programme. You are expected to be the liaison between UCG and the QANU/NVAO. Shortly after the summer of 2017, you will organize a mid-term review to assess possible strengths and weakness in the current programme and quality assurance process.

As part of the preparation of the reaccreditation, you collaborate on improving the quality assurance process at UCG. Tasks concern the writing of the yearly assessment plan, educational monitor and other QA policy documents and archiving them in Quamatrix. The officer will join the quality assurance network of the University of Groningen and that of the Dutch University Colleges.

The main tasks are:
- coordination and planning of the accreditation process
- co-writing of the critical reflection
- organizing mid-term review
- proposing and implementing new procedures in quality assurance
- contributing to UCG’s quality assurance policy and strategy.

- an academic master degree e.g. Educational Sciences
- at least 5 year working experience in quality assurance in higher education
- proven experience in coordination of accreditation processes
- excellent organizational skills
- excellent team working skills and the (potential) ability to lead, motivate a project team and manage complex processes
- excellent oral and written communication skills (English proficiency to a native level; preferably some Dutch proficiency)
- international background or experience is an asset.

Conditions of employment
Contract length: 20 months.
The University of Groningen offers a salary that will be based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate, in a range of minimum € 2,552 (salary scale 10 Dutch Universities) and maximum € 4,691 (scale 11) for a full-time position. We offer a position for 20 months (May 2017 – December 2018). The position is for 0.4 fte. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible.
