Who are we looking for
A dedicated professional with experience in the hospitality industry in the areas of operations management, quality management, sustainability, and facility management. You have a strong desire to stay informed about the latest trends and developments in hospitality operations, and a genuine passion for the industry.
You will play a key role in the development of our future Game changers.
In this role, the lecturer/researcher is responsible for providing comprehensive student coaching throughout the entire academic journey from selection and admission through to graduation. The position involves facilitating atelier sessions within a Design-Based Education (DBE) framework and designing and delivering workshops and expert sessions on a wide range of topics related to hospitality operations. The lecturer/researcher collaborates across disciplines with colleagues on projects and institutional initiatives, while also supervising and mentoring students during their graduation projects. In addition, the role contributes actively to the academic and operational excellence of the institution and participates in the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the curriculum to ensure its relevance and alignment with industry and educational standards.

The NHL Stenden Hotel Management School is a renowned international institute, hosting approximately 2,800 students and employing over 115 staff members. The academy offers practical, internationally oriented educational programmes designed to prepare students for operational and managerial roles in the hospitality industry and other service-oriented sectors. NHL Stenden HMS delivers its programmes at both national and international branch campuses, ensuring a diverse and global learning environment. The Bachelor’s programme in Hotel Management is organized into four distinct learning communities, fostering collaboration, innovation, and specialized skill development.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial professional experience in hotel operations, lodging management, and rooms division, supported by a strong command of operational planning, service and product design, supply chain management, inventory control, quality management (including HACCP and ISO standards), design and layout, as well as project planning and control.
The successful candidate will be expected to inspire and engage students in exploring the interrelationship between operational efficiency, guest experience, and profitability within the modern hospitality landscape.
The curriculum reflects a comprehensive and contemporary approach to hospitality education, emphasizing operational excellence, sustainability, and student empowerment.
Within Operational and Quality Excellence in Hospitality, students develop the ability to design and manage efficient, guest-centered service operations grounded in principles of continuous improvement and service excellence.
Furthermore, Sustainable Hospitality Leadership integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into professional practice, fostering environmental awareness, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to sustainable management within the global hospitality industry.

- You are in possession of the Basic Teaching Qualification (BDB) or is willing to obtain it
- You have obtained a Master’s degree and demonstrate excellent oral and written proficiency in English.
- You are motivated to grow professionally as an atelier facilitator and coach, with a clear commitment to continuous personal development.
- You have a genuine affinity for the field of Hospitality and Hotel Management and are prepared to lead by example in the practice of hostmanship.
- You show willingness to acquire new knowledge and engage in ongoing self-improvement is essential.

- Depending on your knowledge and experience, the salary is a maximum of €6.359,47 (scale 11 Collective Labour Agreement for higher professional education) gross per month for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
