We are looking for an enthusiastic, analytical and creative colleague with experience in the field of (international) Finance and Accounting preferably within a hospitality focused organisation.
You will play a key role in the development of our future Game changers.
Where will you be working
NHL Stenden Hotel Management Schoolis an international institute with approximately 2800 students and over 115 employees. The academy offers ‘real world’, internationally oriented educational programmes, designed to prepare students for operational and management positions in the hospitality industry, and other service-related companies. NHL Stenden HMS programmes are delivered at national and international branch campuses. The Bachelor HMS programme is organized in four different learning communities. The learning communities are responsible for the student journey from start until finish.

- Providing student coaching through both group sessions and one-on-one guidance, supporting academic and personal development.
- Facilitating learning experiences within a Design-Based Education (DBE) framework, fostering active and applied learning.
- Designing and delivering workshops and expert sessions in the fields of Finance and Accounting.
- Developing innovative teaching materials and pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Supervising students in the development and completion of their graduation projects and final academic products.

What is required
- The ideal candidate holds a teaching qualification and possesses a strong understanding of Design-Based Education and Learning.
- You have obtained a Master's degree and demonstrate excellent proficiency in both oral and written English.
- You are eager to further develop their capabilities as an atelier facilitator and coach.
- You have a genuine affinity with the field of Hospitality and Hotel Management is essential. You are expected to exemplify the principles of hostmanship and serve as a role model in this regard.
- Furthermore, You should display a proactive attitude toward acquiring new knowledge and be open to personal and professional growth within the role.
- Prior experience or established affiliation with the Leisure, Tourism and Hostpitality (LTH) industry would be viewed as a beneficial qualification.

Financial Expertise in a Hospitality Context
- Deep understanding of financial management, budgeting, cost control, and reporting within hospitality operations.
- Ability to contextualize finance topics (e.g., P&L, cash flow, CAPEX, KPIs) for hotel and service-based environments.
- Brings practical examples from hospitality finance to the classroom.
Strategic & Analytical Thinking
- Translates financial data into insights and strategic advice.
- Teaches students how to make informed decisions using financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning.
- Encourages a proactive, problem-solving mindset in students.

- Understands the impact of digitalization and tech tools on modern finance (e.g., PMS-integrated accounting, BI tools, Excel modeling, AI in finance).
- Equips students with relevant tools for financial data analysis and visualization.
- Keeps up with fintech, automation, and emerging trends in financial operations.
Global & Ethical Financial Awareness
- Familiar with international finance regulations, currency dynamics, and global reporting standards.
- Emphasizes ethical decision-making, transparency, and financial responsibility.
- Prepares students to work in international, diverse, and responsible financial roles.
Educational Mindset & Coaching Skills
- Passionate about inspiring and supporting students in their personal and professional development.

Additionally:
- Depending on your knowledge and experience, the salary is a maximum of €6.359,47 (scale 11 Collective Labour Agreement for higher professional education) gross per month for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
- The initial term of your employment contract will be for one year, with a possibility of renewal.
- Your normal place of work is in Leeuwarden, but you must be willing to travel if the job requires it.
