The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) offers education and research in a wide range of science and engineering disciplines, from traditional disciplines, such as physics and biology, to interdisciplinary disciplines, such as artificial intelligence and industrial engineering and management. The School of Science and Engineering provides 14 Bachelor degree programmes and 27 Master degree programmes to more than 7000 students. The faculty’s staff and students come from all over the world and nearly all its degree programmes are taught in English.

Job description

The Faculty of Science and Engineering has a vacancy for a temporary position (6 months, initially) as an intercultural trainer for 0.7 FTE.

The development of intercultural competences and the enhancement of inclusion within the Faculty of Science and Engineering is supported by the DEI Team (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion). This team consists of intercultural trainers and project leader(s) that focus on:
- promoting inclusive practices in the faculty (with a focus on cultural and gender diversity)
- enhancing students’ and staff intercultural skills.

- design, provide and evaluate intercultural professionalization activities for staff
- design, provide and evaluate intercultural trainings for students
- design, implement and evaluate materials for asynchronous activities for staff and/or students
- (if applicable): design, provide and evaluate gender bias trainings activities for staff and/or students.
This position has opened due to someone being on sick leave and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.


What we expect of you:

- a completed university education, preferably supplemented with relevant intercultural training/education
- experience in providing intercultural competence or intercultural communication trainings/ courses to a variety of target groups
- experience in teaching on site, online and in a blended format
- excellent social and intercultural skills to be able to work in an international organization and a multicultural team
- strong communication skills (in English)
- proactive attitude; creativity; team spirit.

For this position, the following qualifications and/or experience would also be appreciated:

- Experience in designing and facilitating gender bias trainings
- IDI qualification.

Conditions of employment

Contract length: 06 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary with a minimum of € 2,960 up to a maximum of € 4,670 gross per month (salary scale 10) for a full-time position
- in addition to the salary; 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
- employment for 0.7 FTE for 6 months.
