NHL Stenden Hospitality Group (NHG) is a unique learning company that, together with NHL Stenden and the Hotel Management School, manages hospitality and event activities on campus. Each year, hundreds of students gain real-world experience with trends and developments in the international hospitality industry. Within NHG, business units are largely run by students from the Hotel Management School, allowing theory and practice to merge seamlessly. For over 30 years, this approach has produced top professionals and ‘game changers’ in the hospitality sector.
What will you do
As Hotel Manager – Business Operations NHG, you are, together with the Head of Campus Hospiltality– Business Operations, jointly responsible for the daily management of the NHL Stenden Hospitality Group (NHG).
You carry the responsibility for the performance and future-proof development of the Hotel Operations including Hotel Notiz, its F&B, and the supporting departments. You shape and translate strategic goals into concrete tactical actions and projects. Key here is to deliver an outstanding guest experience while further developing our leading Real World Learning concept — designed for students of the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden and, in time, also students from other programmes.
In this role, you are the connecting link between today’s hospitality industry, our students, and our Design Based Education concept. You work closely with your fellow Business Operations executive Head of Campus Hospiltality as well as with the other Heads of Department, Practical Facilitators, students, and lecturers.
This position combines direct responsibility for your own department whilst also leading other Heads of Department. You report directly to the Director of NHG.

- Financial reality: make sharp choices and lay the foundation for NHG’s future within a shifting regulatory and financial landscape.
Core responsibilities
- Leading approx. 25 staff members within the hotel team (Rooms Division: housekeeping, front office, reservations, and the night team).
- Managing supporting functions such as marketing, revenue, quality control and finance.
- Leading the Heads of Department for Restaurant Wannee and Business Intelligence.
- Translating strategic frameworks into annual plans, projects, and operational improvements.
- Safeguarding and further developing practice-based education together with the Outsourced Education Coordinator and the Director.
- Engaging teams in renewal and change processes.
- Monitoring and steering guest satisfaction, financial results, and educational objectives.
- Working closely with and guiding Heads of Department for integral NHG-wide management.
- Actively contributing to Head of Department meetings and NHG project groups.
- Collaborating intensively with the Campus Hospitality Manager and the Director to further shape NHG as a pioneering learning company.

What do you bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (hbo-equivalent), preferably in hospitality management or similar.
- Language: English at minimum Cambridge C1 level; Dutch is an advantage.
- Experience: Several years in a management role within hotels, specifically in Rooms Division (e.g., Hotel Manager, Operations Manager, or Head of a large RD department).
- Specific: experience with change management; affinity with education and working with young professionals; knowledge of commercial steering and quality assurance.
- Leadership style: a servant leader — able to coach and support while also critically steering based on performance.

What we offer

- Salary according to HBO scale 10-11: €3.609,94 – € 6.359,47 gross per month (depending on experience), excl. 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus.
- A one-year contract with the the intentention to extend, ultimately into permanent employment.
