Organisation
University of Groningen
The research consortium “Rational points: new dimensions” is a research group on the arithmetic of rational points based at the Bernoulli Institute of the University of Groningen, the Mathematical Institute of Leiden University and the Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University.
The mathematical community in the Netherlands is tight-knit. The consortium members interact regularly with experts at universities other than those involved in the consortium, such as the University of Amsterdam, the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Radboud University in Nijmegen. These interactions are also facilitated by the monthly Intercity Number Theory Seminar, the Intercity Geometry Seminar, the twice-annual DIAMANT Symposium, and the twice-annual GQT School and Colloquium. We also keep in touch with our colleagues in Belgium through the “Getaltheorie in het Vlakke Land” seminar and the Belgian-Dutch Algebraic Geometry Seminar.
University of Groningen
Since its foundation in 1614, the University of Groningen has enjoyed an international reputation as a dynamic and innovative centre of higher education offering high-quality teaching and research. Balanced study and career paths in a wide variety of disciplines encourage currently more than 36,000 students and researchers to develop their own individual talents. Belonging to the best research universities in Europe and the top 100 universities in the world, the University of Groningen is truly an international place of knowledge.
Within the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), the Bernoulli Institute conducts research combining theoretical as well as practical aspects of three disciplines, namely Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Diversity and inclusion
The research consortium “Rational points: new dimensions” commits to operating in accordance with the values of diversity and inclusion. Everyone deserves to be respected and feel at home in our research community, regardless of differences in background, experiences, perspectives, and identities. These values are reflected by the three host institutions' diversity policies: Groningen, Leiden, Utrecht. Diversity among consortium members enriches academic debate and contributes to the quality of research. We therefore particularly encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply.
