Biological nanopores are an exciting new class of biosensors, which found practical application is in single-molecule DNA sequencing and single-molecule analysis.
We will focus on designing and engineering biological nanopores to recognize either peptides or individual amino acids in proteins. A wide variety of problems will be tackled, which will require designing nanopore, model protein substrates, engineering unfoldases and proteases. The nanopores will be tested using single-molecule electrophysiology techniques.
Single-molecule enzymology, protein sequencing, chemical biology, biochemistry, biophysics
The successful applicant has:
- a Master degree in one of the following expertise: molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, Engineering, or related disciplines
- a good command of English (oral and written)
- enthusiastic and a team player.
Proficiency in complex data analysis will be an advantage but it is not a requirement.
