EU Liaison Officer (1.0 FTE)

Bureau van de Universiteit

University of Groningen

The University of Groningen (UG) and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) are amongst the best research and educational institutes in the world. The UG and UMCG characterize themselves by four societal themes: Healthy Ageing, Sustainable Society, Energy, and AI/Digital Society. Healthy Ageing is the overarching field for all research programmes of the UMCG: ranging from fundamental research on ageing to research and development of applied prevention, diagnosis and treatment methods. In doing so, the UMCG collaborates with a variety of researchers from the different faculties of the UG.
Within these societal themes, the UG investigates the opportunities and challenges of a sustainable society. Many research projects are executed in international teams and are co-financed by the European Commission through subsidy programmes such as the Horizon 2020 (soon Horizon Europe) and EIT.

The EU Liaison Officer will be part of the Strategy Department for Education and Research (SER) of the UG, as well as the team Strategy Development and External Relations of the UMCG. Within the UG, the SER department is responsible for the central support of researchers, research groups, and the board. This happens for example through individual advice, information meetings, and trainings. Additionally, there is as much collaboration with the Faculty Funding Officers as possible.
The Team Strategy Development and External Relations of the UMCG is concerned with the lobby, strategy, outreach, and healthy ageing concerning patient care. The EU Liaison Officer collaborates closely with the UMCG Grant Support Hub (aimed at the support of scientific staff in writing subsidy proposals).
