Research Lecturer Media and Content Marketing

Then you're in the right place, because then you will undoubtedly get very excited about the possibility to become Research Lecturer at the Communication & Creative Business Academy at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. We are looking for an expert on practice-oriented research/design-based research. 

Who are we looking for 

A new colleague with teaching qualifications, who is familiar with Design Based Education and Learning (or is willing to obtain training/certification in these areas). Furthermore, someone who would like to develop him/herself as an atelier* coach and mentor and who has a master's degree. 

Where will you be working 

The Academy of Communication & Creative Business, with over 100 colleagues and 1,600 (national and international) students, consists of two bachelor programs, one master program, two associate degrees and two professorates. We are a young and enthusiastic teaching/support team. We value self-initiative, creativity, commitment, and dialogue. We celebrate successes together with our students. We aim to develop education together with the creative (media) industry, both nationally as well as internationally. Working from the educational concept Design-Based Education, we aim to immerse our students in real-life design processes. 

The colleague who we are looking for will become a team member of the Creative Business program.   

What will you be doing: 

  • In their design challenge students are bound to sustain their improvement proposals with design-based research. This could also stretch to human centered design or data driven design. You will be supervising groups and individual students – both Bachelor and Master students- in (complex) topics related to media and content marketing.  A strong connection between design and research is pivotal and you are able to guide them in methods which are prevalent in the creative industry. 

  • Other activities vary from student coaching to developing new teaching materials and approaches to co-ordination and organizational tasks 


  • Experience as a teacher in higher education is a plus, not a must. 

  • In possession of preferably a PhD or at least a master's degree in combination with experience with and knowledge of applied qualitative and quantitative research in the Creative Industry. 

  • A basic qualification of didactic competence or the willingness to attain it. 

  • Aware of developments in the creative media industry. 

  • Experienced in design-based research 

  • A research spirit, a result-oriented attitude and an intercultural orientation. 

  • Fluent in English, preferably (but not necessarily) fluent in Dutch.
