The school of Communication, Media & IT is currently looking for a Lecturer-researcher Bachelor International Communication (0.7 FTE).

For the English taught bachelor programme International Communication (IC) we are currently looking for a lecturer-researcher to join and thrive with our team.

Job description

As a lecturer-researcher, you provide lessons within the Bachelor International Communication. Think of various topics of the communication working field, for example:
- Online Marketing and Digital Analytics
- Internal communication
- Change communication
- Campaigning
- Crisis & Reputation
- Public Affairs

Our students work a lot in project groups where they adapt the learned theory to real client assignments. The coaching of project groups is therefore part of the job as well as grading exams and teaching advisory skills. All our students learn and use an adapted version of the design research method to navigate client assignments and reach good solutions and answers for clients questions.
In this position you are reporting to the Programme Manager International Communication.

The programme

With a group of around 30 professionals and 11 different nationalities we prepare students for an international career in every facet of the communication field. We support students to become pro-active, creative and responsible communication professionals. International and intercultural competencies are an important part of the bachelor programme. Around 70% of our students are coming from outside of the Netherlands which makes our classroom a truly international one.
Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze UAS) is a multidisciplinary university of applied sciences. Its mission is to deliver skilled and committed professionals and conduct applied research. The school of Communication, Media & IT (SCMI) of Hanze offers two communication bachelor programmes, one Dutch taught and one English taught.

Requirements and competences

- At least 3 years of working experience in the working field of communication, for example as communication advisor, spokesperson or marketing responsible.
- Proven working experience and knowledge in Digital Analytics and Online Marketing, not afraid of some statistics.
- Experience with Design Research as a method.
- Being familiar with one or several communication topics (as listed above).
- Enthusiastic about teaching and coaching young adults.
- Good team worker, pro-active attitude, willing to learn and to develop, willing to contribute to both team development and further improvement of our programme.
- University master degree in Communication or related study, for example Marketing or Economics (a master degree is a mandatory requirement).
- Fluent / near-native English speaker, able to provide all lessons in English.

Former teaching experience is appreciated but not expected. Speaking Dutch is not a requirement.

In case of equal qualification for this position, we will give preference to candidates with an international background and/or international work experience.

What do we offer?

We offer a temporary contract for one year which may eventually be extended to another year. The gross salary will be a minimum of € 3.522,- and maximum € 5.127,- per month depending on former work experience (please note - these amounts are for a 1,0 fte appointment). It’s a scale 11 function according to the Collective Working Agreements for higher education in the Netherlands (CAO HBO). In addition, you will be entitled to holiday pay, a year-end bonus, good opportunities for courses and personal development..
