Job description
Within the Department of Operations, a post-doc position is available on the topic of logistics for customization in education with self-regulation. A paradigm shift is required in the organization of the logistics operations of educational processes to achieve a high quality situation where any learner at any time based on their own learning speed, level and ambition can acquire the right part of a specific course in a cost-efficient way. The aim of the project is to design new analytical and simulation models and solution approaches to support strategic and real-time decision making in the organization of customization in secondary education.
An important aspect of the designed models is that resilient and robust solutions are generated to provide a fair system with the right amount of support and opportunities for self-organization for all learners, flexibility in the system, a balanced workload for teachers, transparency in the organization of activities and the ability to effectively deal with external developments such as staff shortage. This will be based on insights into the characteristics of operations, and attributes (e.g., learning demand, availability) of individual learners and teachers. Important questions in this regard are, for example: a) how to analyze and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of system changes in educational logistics? b) what allocation policies and task division policies can be designed to flexibly allocate teachers with different profiles to learning activities? c) what sharing mechanisms can be designed to enable cooperation between schools?
This postdoc position is part of the research project "Educational logistics for secondary education" in which researchers work with schools in secondary education on developing new planning and control concepts to organize customization in secondary education. A large groups of schools and other external partners provide the opportunity for interfacing research and implementation activities, e.g. within the Quadraam network. This position was enabled by the Sectorplannen Techniek II.
