Job description
Project: Diabetes2Care A Personalized Lifestyle Intervention for People with Diabetes
Project description
Type 2 diabetes has a high prevalence in The Netherlands. Due to the high numbers of people that are affected, it is difficult to find sufficient support. Furthermore, access to knowledge on self-management of the diseases is limited. Within the project Diabetes2Care a consortium around Diavantis B.V. has set of to develop an app that enables people with type 2 diabetes to take control and more responsibility for their own health.
The Discret Technology and Production Automation group of the RUG support this project by organizing and coordinating scientific studies that explore how people use the app that will be developed within the project. Furthermore, we will investigate how machine-learning based algorithms can be used to personalize the user experience. The goal of this personalized user experience is to enable each individual user to discover their own sustainable way of dealing with their health conditions. The technical challenge within this project lies in the huge variance of the data. Furthermore, the app needs to be able to work with sparse incomplete data and the algorithms need to comply with local legislation.
We seek a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in
- Developing Data-driven control solutions for medical mobile applications.
- Investigate the use of machine learning-based algorithms can be used to personalize the user experience within an app.
- Conduct data acquisition studies within lifestyle interventions.
- Communicate and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of project partners from the Dutch MedTech industry.
- Collaborate with other postdocs and PhD students in the research group.
