The Office of the University supports the Board of the University in matters of teaching and research policy. Within the Strategy Department of Education & Research, the Section Education and Students is devoted to the development of education policy, - strategy and the quality assurance of education within the UG. Among others, the section deals centrally with, for example, the Institutional Audit and coordinates centrally the Summer & Winter Schools.

Summer & winter schools bring bright students and inspired researchers together to work intensively on important topics. In addition, summer & winter schools are an excellent instrument for educational innovation, attracting talented (PhD) students and staff, profiling the (re)masters programmes, and for intensifying our cooperation with important (international) partners and external stakeholders.

The UG summer & winter schools attract around 1500 students from more than 110 countries. The Summer & Winter School Office (SWSO) facilitates academic organizers of these short courses, both logistically and financially. In a decentralized approach, in which Faculties initiate schools and decide and coordinate on content, the SWSO provides organisational support (marketing, website, applications, payments, evaluations, social programme etcetera). In addition, the SWSO offers support and advice to the academic organizers.

Job description

We are looking for a project assistant who will support the organisation of the UG summer & winter schools. Your tasks will be varied and diverse, but mainly involve the promotion of the summer & winter schools via a variety of (digital) platforms. You will be providing texts, visuals and video through all available communication channels, set up online campaigns and manage the promotion of the various schools. Social media is an integral part of this promotion. We expect you to develop powerful and engaging content and to help us shape our social media platforms. You should therefore have a flair for the creative as well as the technical aspects of online communications.

You will work closely together with the project manager, and together you will provide organisational support to the academic coordinators, contact with (potential) applicants, monitoring registrations, arranging payments and coordinating the social programme. We will ask you to be available during the summer months, when the summer schools will take place.


The ideal candidate is creative and proactive, and can coordinate tasks with colleagues in a persevering and friendly way. The following skills, abilities and qualifications are required:

• university level, Dutch HBO or bachelor’s degree in the fields of Communication, Marketing or similar
• demonstrable experience with marketing and communication (social media, SEO/Google Analytics, online marketing campaigns)
• expertise in developing and driving social media strategies and campaigns
• knowledge of Adobe Premiere and InDesign or similar programmes
• flexibility and willingness to work as a team member and independently
• excellent proficiency in English.

Conditions of employment

Contract length: 12 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary depending on qualifications and work experience. From a minimum of €2.700, - and a maximum of €3.606, - (scale 8 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities) for a fulltime position.
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
- an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
- an appointment for a period of one year. If the candidate performs well, the position may be made permanent.

Starting date: January 1st 2021 or as soon as possible
