Whom do you work with and for?
NHL Stenden Hotel Management School is an international institute with approximately 2800 students and over 115 employees. The academy offers ‘real world’, internationally oriented educational programmes, designed to prepare students for operational and management positions in the hospitality industry, and other service-related companies. NHL Stenden HMS programmes are delivered at national and international branch campuses.
What will you be doing?
Your role in the educational journey of students is to providing them with knowledge, skills and support needed to succeed. You are responsible for designing and delivering the course content, providing feedback and assessment, and mentoring and coaching students. You will bring your industry expertise and experience into the classroom, providing students with real-world examples and case studies to help them better understand the practical aspects of the hospitality industry. We are looking for someone who can learn students about the basis of hospitality management based on different topics like business management, marketing, financial accounting, hospitality operations, human resources, and customer service, as well as implementing new and upcoming trends in the curriculum. You will prepare them for a future as a management professional in the International Hospitality industry.
- You are responsible for student coaching and train them in the field of hospitality management..
- You are facilitating sessions in Design Based Education.
- You conduct workshops and expert sessions on a range of related subjects and developing new teaching materials and approaches.
- Co-ordination and organizational tasks.
- You will supervise on graduation products.
- You will contribute to the development of new educational programs.
Who are we looking for?
Someone with extensive work experience within the hospitality industry. Especially, experience as a manager within hospitality operations (hotel manager, resort manager or event manager), and knowledge/insights into current affairs and contemporary developments in this field. Preferably with an international background.
The right candidate has teaching qualification and is familiar with Design Based Education and Learning (or is prepared to obtain training/certification in these areas). Furthermore, someone who has a Master’s degree, an excellent oral and written command of English and who would like to develop him/herself as an atelier facilitator and coach*.
*Atelier sessions consist of 25 students. As a facilitator you are process observer who supports and makes learner-oriented interventions, focusing on the group process. Students have ownership and control over the learning process. In this role you work on real (design) challenges from the industry as well as situated in real-life environment of the student/learner, using design thinking process in an iterative manner. And you will be guiding the group in reaching learning outcomes by means of working on design challenges. As a coach you guide and coach students in their personal and professional development through their entire study journey.

Suitably qualified applicants will be considered for the position of lecturer researcher B. This position is at salary scale 11 (max €5.332,48 gross per month) of the HBO CLA, depending on relevant experience, based on a full-time employment, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus).
The function is initially for the period of one year and can be extended.
Start date: 1th of September 2023 (otherwise as soon as possible).
