Researcher/ Lecturer in Interactive Technologies
0.6 - 1.0 FTE
Instituut voor Communicatie, Media & IT
The Institute of Communication, Media & IT (CMI), as part of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, specialises in offering a wide range of multifaceted, innovative and internationally oriented bachelor programmes.
The research group User-Centered Design (UCD) focuses on understanding how interactive technologies can be used to create a (positive) change in behaviour, such as promoting a more active lifestyle or training practical skills using personalised VR environments. We do so to better understand the relationship between design choices within an interactive tool and (intended) outcomes of the user. In this research group there are two overarching research topics: Adaptive Systems and New Technologies. In our research projects we work together with the (creative) industry to ensure that these innovative tools not only reach their intended goals, but also to ensure that they can survive in the market.
Within the study program of Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD), we train students in designing interactive digital products within the field of Creative Technology. Through interactive workshops and real-world project cases, students learn how to analyse, design, develop, and evaluate different types of interactive applications in a realistic and professional setting.
Within the study program there are three important majors: Interactive Media & Technologies, Multimedia Concepting & Design, and Game Design & Development.
The CMD program is closely linked to the UCD research group, which enables students to work together with the industry and researchers on relevant research and development cases.
An exciting new opportunity exists at the School of Communication, Media & IT for the position of Researcher/ Lecturer in Interactive Technologies.
You will be employed at the School of Communication, Media & IT at the research group User-Centered Design and at the bachelor study Communication & Multimedia Design. You will work primarily on topics related to interactive technologies, behaviour change and interface/interaction design and help to create prototypes to showcase these new technologies (proof-of-concepts).
As a lecturer, you will take care of organising, conducting, and assessing relevant courses and projects, related to interactive technology development and research, within the curriculum of the CMD study programme. You participate in designing, evaluating and improving the curriculum in cooperation with the other members of the team.
