The University College Groningen (UCG) is a faculty of the University of Groningen that started a Liberal Arts and Sciences programme in September 2014. The UCG Liberal Arts and Sciences programme offers broad academic education with a focus on engagement to societal challenges through project-based education and interdisciplinary integration. The UCG community is internationally oriented, with staff and students from across the globe. For the extension of the Liberal Arts and Sciences programme, UCG is looking for an academic with experience in teaching quantitative research methods, a background in economics and business, political science or cognitive psychology and a primary interest in education and active learning methods, motivated to further contribute to the development of the University College Groningen.

Job description
The lecturer will teach quantitative research methods in close collaboration with the UCG academic coordinator of research methods. Next to research methods, you will teach in the major Social Sciences, preferable courses in economics and business, political science or cognitive psychology. You will supervise project groups in the core UCG programme line and tutor individual UCG students. Periodically you maintain and develop allotted course components and write proposals for improvements following a course evaluation for cohesive course components. From UCG staff it is expected that they help building the UCG community both by their presence at the College and the activities for the College as a whole. You will be appointed for a max. of 0.8 fte. As a member of Department Social Sciences, you will participate in the UCG community of students and staff.

Requirements
UCG is looking for a candidate with the following credentials:
- has obtained a PhD or is currently completing a PhD in economics and business, cognitive psychology or political science
- has experience in teaching quantitative research methods
- is a team player and good communicator
- has an international background or experience
- has near-native English proficiency
- is able to demonstrate experience with educational innovation and active learning methods.


Conditions of employment
Contract length: 12 months.
The University of Groningen offers a salary from a minimum of € 2,552 (salary scale 10 Dutch Universities) and a maximum of € 5,330 (scale 12) at a full-time position, depending on your experience in Academia. The appointment as a lecturer is for one year. After a positive evaluation, a tenured position can be attained.
